Have you ever wondered how huge rock bands were first started? Or how long it took them to reach the top? Well, take a glance at Grosse Pointe’s very own middle school rock band, “The Boys of Summer”. The Boys of Summer include guitarists Nolan Eszes and Charlie Bomgaars, bassist Cooper Evans, and drummer Sebastian Moncivais.

The original band went by the name, “Voyage” before everything started. In late 2018, Voyage played at Pierce’s School Concert and Talent Show, but never performed at any other place outside of school. But on June 15, 2018, The Boys of Summer gave their first performance at Atwater and after that, The Boys of Summer was officially born. The band has now played at Atwater three times, Cadieux Cafe twice, and a fundraiser in March raising money and awareness for cystic fibrosis patients. The Boys of Summer also had a gig on Thursday, May 16th at Watermark Bar and Grille.

What does the future look like for the band? The Boys of Summer have a gig booked for Atwater on Sunday, June 9 from 6-9 PM. The Band will also be participating in the Sterling Heights Battle of The Bands on Tuesday, June 18 for a chance to win studio time and an opening gig at the Sterlingfest on July 25th.

The band has even designed merchandise sporting the Boys of Summer logo! Fans can order and purchase the merchandise, which currently only includes t-shirts, at gigs.
