Famous Barbadian singer Rihanna has turned down performing the 2018 Super Bowl halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick. Colin Kaepernick, a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who took a knee during the national anthem, hasn’t played since the 2016 final game after the “Kneeling Controversy”. Kaepernick took a kneel in 2016 in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick states.

Rihanna is now said to be taking things one step further to work with the athlete in order to create positive changes, in both a powerful and fun way. The sources believe that this is taking form in one of her music videos. Performing in the super bowl halftime show would be good exposure for Rihanna considering that she reportedly is going to be releasing a new album and possibly going on tour. “But she stuck with what was right in her eyes.” Sources say.

Rihanna was the first choice for a performer, but now, the super bowl halftime show will be performed by Maroon 5 and a special guest. Cardi B will most likely be the special guest, considering Maroon 5’s hit song “Girls Like You” features hit rapper Cardi B.
