Kevin Wayne Durant, born on September 29, 1988, in Washington D.C, is considered to be one of the best players in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Durant won two back-to-back championships with the San Francisco Golden State Warriors in the 2016-17 season and 2017-18 season. He also won the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in 2017.

 

In 2007, Kevin Durant’s rookie year, he was drafted to the Seattle Supersonics, a team that was soon sold to Oklahoma and renamed the Oklahoma City Thunder. For one year Durant scored the majority of the points until another star player stepped onto the court. This player was Russell Westbrook, who was drafted to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008. The two were so dominate on the court that they nicknamed themselves the “Dynamic Duo”.  

 

Growing up in Washington D.C., Durant played basketball throughout middle and high school. Later, he attended the University of Texas, where as a freshman he led his team in the Big 12 Conference by scoring on average 25 points per game. His rebounding average was 11 rebounds per game. He didn’t just score points, he also blocked shots. Kevin Durant was a member of the First Team All-American, which means he was selected along with the best-of-the-best in the country to play for the official United States Basketball Team. Kevin Durant is currently one of the top scorers in the NBA and is thought to be one of the best basketball players of all time.
