Selection Sunday has happened and the teams have their seeds. The tournament starts of March 15th. The one seeds are Villanova, Xavier, Kansas and Virginia. The two seeds are Duke, Cincinnati, North Carolina, and Purdue. Villanova or Virginia is predicted to win the championship. A 16 seed has never beat a 1 seed. Kansas is inconsistent so this could be the first time a 16 seed beats a 1 seed. Virginia is lead by Kyle Guy and Devon Hall. Kyle Guy averages 14 points a game.
Villanova is lead by Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges. Jalen Brunson is a player of the year candidate and averages 19.4 points per game. Xavier’s top players are Trevon Bluiett and J.P. Macura. J.P. Macura is a very good shooter and is underrated. Bluiett averages 19.5 points per game and Macura averages 12.2 points per game.
All of the player of the year candidates are in the tournament. The candidates are Deandre Ayton on Arizona, Kansas’ Devonte’ Graham, Jalen Brunson on Villanova, Marvin Bagley III on the Duke Blue Devils, and the favorite for player of the year, Trae Young.
Even if your team isn’t in it, March Madness should be very entertaining this year and a lot of fun to watch.
