Last weekend, severe power outages occurred in various areas of Grosse Pointe that lasted for several days, leaving many homes without electricity or even heating.

DTE reported that winds took down 7,900 wires and broke more than 1,000 poles. Because of the storm’s duration and statewide impact, some customers in the worst impacted areas did not have power restored until Sunday.

Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties were all affected but the Detroit-area had the most amount of power loss. The power outage was the after-effect of a severe thunderstorm which ravaged the upper Midwest region toppling telephone poles and wires. As of now, many homes and telephone poles have been restored.
